EuroCloud very much supports the European Cloud Partnership (ECP) strategy presented by VP Kroes at Davos.
EuroCloud very much supports the idea to evolve Public IT procurement as an efficient way to stimulate the European Cloud market. Standards, certification, data protection, interoperability, lock-in, legal certainty and others are only some of the key elements that will need further development. The three phases VP Kroes identified, are steps that are welcomed by EuroCloud and we see them as the right steps to lift the European Cloud strategy to a higher and more active level, where no one will be excluded.
EuroCloud recognizes that the Cloud market is still young, full of opportunities and that for the European market a lot of opportunities exist to evolve Cloud business. Not limited to European boundaries and certainly suitable for all kinds of organizations, not only the larger organizations but also the Small and Medium business market, in the private and the public sector.
EuroCloud very much wants to contribute actively to the ECP process. In order to support VP Kroes with this initiative, EuroCloud plans to help European Commission to promote ECP through its unique European Cloud Community – present in 28 countries – to achieve the goals as soon as possible. EuroCloud Europe has alreadydecided to organize the biggest European screening operation to collect Public sector use cases to be assembled into one Eurocloud document showing various experiences lead by public organizations in Europe that will be presented to the commission this year. Together with VP Kroes, the public and private sector and the European Commission, we are looking forward to move towards a Cloud friendly and a Cloud active market.
